APPHBM – Partner to Families- Website
L’Association de parents de personnes handicapées de Brome-Missisquoi (APPHBM) is a non-profit organization that brings together parents of children and adults of all ages with an intellectual disability (ID) or autism spectrum disorder/pervasive developmental disorder (ASD/PDD).
The APPHBM offers activities for children and adults living with an autism spectrum disorder (TSA) and/or an intellectual disability (ID) to socialize, learn, grow, and enjoy themselves, while giving parents time for work or respite.
As part of its mission, the APPHBM adopts four main objectives:
1- Support the parents of people with ID/PDD/ASD during difficult times in their everyday lives, while also giving them time off.
2- Give support to people of all ages with an ID/PDD/TSA in their everyday lives.
3- Prepare parents to face the reality of their children’s lives in relation to their disability.
4- Involve the population and local organizations in awareness-raising and integration activities.
L’Association des parents de personnes handicapées de Brome-Missisquoi (APPBHM) is devoted to supporting parents with a handicap child and defending the rights of said child who has an intellectual disability (ID) or autism spectrum disorder/pervasive developmental disorder (ASD/PDD).
The APPBHM wants to inform and educate others, while raising awareness to the peers of people with an ID or ASA/PDD, and the population as a whole.
